Foosaner Art Museum Celebrates 40-Year Anniversary by Showcasing 5,000 Piece Collection

From Pop Art on paper to ancient American pottery, Foosaner Art Museum’s 5,000-piece collection is rich with captivating, significant objects from all corners of the art world.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA– From Pop Art on paper to ancient American pottery, Foosaner Art Museum’s 5,000-piece collection is rich with captivating, significant objects from all corners of the art world.

The museum will showcase some of them starting Friday, June 1, with the opening of A Look Back: Forty Years of the Foosaner Collection.

The new exhibition opens with an evening preview from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Weekend viewing will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The exhibition will remain up through Nov. 3.

Celebrating the Foosaner’s 40th anniversary, the exhibition features a selection of favorite objects from the permanent collection, including works on paper by famous Pop artists Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg and John Chamberlain; contemporary landscape paintings by Larry Leach and Ted Waddell; and stunning portraits of the ballerina Anna Pavlova by the German Impressionist Ernst Oppler.

Abstract works by local favorites Frits van Eeden and George Snyder also will be displayed, alongside ancient American pottery and Art Deco industrial arts.

Also Friday, the monthly Jazz Friday concert will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Foosaner’s Harris Community Auditorium. Featuring saxophonist Carl Lewis, event admission is $10 per person or free for members of Foosaner Art Museum. Beer and wine will be available for purchase at the concert.
