Teen Girl Shot In Unincorporated Cocoa After Dispute, Listed In Serious Condition

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that injured a 16-year-old girl Tuesday night at house on the 200 block of Grace Avenue in unincorporated Cocoa.
Deputies say they responded to the area at around 7:19 p.m. after receiving a call that a person had been shot.
To this point, the investigation has revealed that the shooting incident stemmed from an earlier disturbance between two males.
“Shortly after the initial disturbance ended, several persons returned to the residence on Grace Avenue and a second altercation ensued,” said Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
“During this altercation, a firearm was discharged with a round injuring a 16-year-old female, who was later transported to a local hospital where she is currently listed in serious but stable condition.”
Investigators are conducting interviews and gathering evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
