Brevard County Sheriff's Deputies and Brevard Fire Rescue units are on the scene

State Road 520 (Merritt Island Causeway) has been closed between Sykes Creek Parkway and Plumosa Street because of a natural gas leak.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue and Florida City Gas crews are at the site of a natural gas leak that has forced a shutdown of State Road 520 between Sykes Creek Parkway and Plumosa Street in front of Merritt Square Mall.

The incident was reported at about 7 p.m. in the 700 block of East Merritt Island Causeway. No evacuations have been ordered.

The leak is from a 4-inch line and the gas company has been working to locate a shut off for the area.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies and Brevard Fire Rescue units are on the scene and directing traffic on to Borman Drive.

No injuries or the cause of the leak has been reported.
