Brevard Elementary Schools to Receive Donation From the Buzz Aldrin ShareSpace Foundation

On July 18, the Buzz Aldrin ShareSpace Foundation will announce its donation of Giant Mars Maps and educational materials to all Brevard Public Schools elementary schools.

BREVARD COUNTY • KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA – The Buzz Aldrin ShareSpace Foundation will announce its donation on July 18 of Giant Mars Maps and educational materials to all Brevard Public Schools elementary schools.

The donations support the sixth-grade Destination Space curriculum and include 600 books, 60 Mars Maps and 10 Vex robots.

The massive Mars maps are 25′ x 25′ and display surface features for the entire planet. They display coordinates, are color-coded to indicate elevation and are labeled to show landing sites of landers and rovers.

The event will take place July 18 at 10 a.m. at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex under Space Shuttle Atlantis and include a map activity demonstration.

Participants will include Andy Aldrin, president of Buzz Aldrin ShareSpace Foundation; Therrin Protzke, chief operating officer of Delaware North Companies; Jim Christensen, executive director of Buzz Aldrin ShareSpace Foundation.
