Brevard Sheriff’s Office Conducting Homicide Investigation After Finding Man In Burning Vehicle

Authorities have identified the man killed as 38-year-old Tony Shaniel Butler from Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is currently conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found in a burning vehicle in Mims on Monday.

Authorities have identified the man killed as 38-year-old Tony Shaniel Butler from Titusville.

According to Officer Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, July 9, when BCSO received a 911 emergency call about a vehicle that was on fire in a wooded area on Bethune Ave., just south of Wylie Ave. in Mims.

“After the flames were extinguished by Brevard County Fire Rescue personnel, the body of Mr. Butler was discovered in the vehicle,” said Officer Goodyear.

“Preliminary findings of the autopsy performed by the Brevard County Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.”
