Florida Tech Panthers Serve Up 2018 Volleyball Schedule, Season Starts August 24

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Head coach Amy O’Brien has announced the 2018 volleyball schedule.

The Crimson & Gray will host 10 matches at the Clemente Center this season. Four of the women’s matches will feature teams that finished the 2017 season nationally ranked.

Florida Tech will kick off its year with the Spring Hill Suites Pioneer Invitational in Denton, Texas. The Panthers will take on St. Edwards and Southeastern Oklahoma State on Aug. 24, followed matches against Northwood and host Texas Woman’s University on Aug. 25.

FIT will continue its road trip with a doubleheader on Aug. 31. The Panthers start the day taking on Wilmington University in Winter Park, Fla., before heading to Daytona Beach, Fla. for its first match of the Embry-Riddle Labor Day Tournament versus McKendree.

FIT will end the ERAU Labor Day Tournament with two matches on Sep. 1 against Bentley and Oklahoma Baptist.

Florida Tech opens the Sunshine State Conference season with four of its first six matches taking place on the road as they head to Tampa on Sep. 7, followed by Rollins on Sep. 8.

The Panthers’ home opener is set for Sep. 14 against Nova Southeastern. They will then take on their first ranked opponent of the season on Sep. 15 as they welcome No. 15 Palm Beach Atlantic to Melbourne.

FIT will make a trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida to take on Saint Leo on Sep. 21, before heading to Lakeland, Fla. for a matchup with 2017 national runner-up Florida Southern on Sep. 22.

The Crimson & Gray will then host a three-game home tilt as they welcome Embry-Riddle on Sep. 25, Eckerd on Sep. 28, and Rollins on Oct. 2.

Four of the team’s next five matches will take place on the road, beginning on Oct. 5 with a contest at Lynn. The Panthers travel to Miami Shores on Oct. 6 for a battle with Barry, followed by road bouts with Tampa on Oct. 9, PBA on Oct. 12 and Nova on Oct. 13.

The final regular season tournament takes place on Oct. 19 and 20 as Florida Tech heads to Orlando, Fla. for this year’s South Region Crossover.

FIT will conclude its season with four of its final six SSC matches at home, as they welcome Florida Southern on Oct. 26 and Saint Leo on Oct. 27. The team will then travel to Daytona Beach to face Embry-Riddle on Oct. 30 and finally wrap up their road play Nov. 3 against Eckerd.

The final two games of the regular season will take place on Florida Tech’s home court. The squad will first usher in Barry on Nov. 9 before honoring the seniors in their final home match on Nov. 10 versus Lynn.

This year’s NCAA Regional Tournament is set to take place Nov. 15-18 and the National Tournament is Nov. 29 – Dec. 1.
