Joe Samaco Passes Away June 12, Was Superintendent for Continental Cement at Port Canaveral

Joe Samaco died at home June 12, 2018, and was Superintendent for Continental Cement at Port Canaveral. In his 39 year career at Port Canaveral, he enjoyed seeing the cruise ship lines grow and watching many a launch at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT ST. JOHN – Joseph Michael Samaco, (Joe) died at home June 12, 2018. He was born in Ravenna, Ohio on October 19, 1940.

He was preceded in death by son, Daniel Paul, daughter Julie Ann Rowe, parents Daniel L. Samaco and Rose (Meador) Samaco, and brother Daniel L. Samaco, Jr. (Carol).

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, MaryAnn (Stukovsky) Samaco, brother Frank Samaco (Judy), son Joseph Paul Samaco, and grandchildren, Katy Harvey, Nicholas Samaco, and Luci Samaco, along with many nieces and nephews.

Joe served three years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Little Rock with deployment missions to the Mediterranean.

Joe and MaryAnn moved to Florida in 1963 where he was Superintendent for Continental Cement at Port Canaveral. In his 39 year career at Port Canaveral, he enjoyed seeing the cruise ship lines grow and watching many a launch at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center.

In his youth, Joe was active in football, basketball and baseball. Later years he was competitive in bowling and golf and enjoyed coaching youth sports. His leisure time was spent with children and grandchildren fishing, watching NASCAR and many family travels across the country.

Joe was a member of the Melbourne Community Church. Joe was kind, funny, generous, and wise and an inspiration to his family as a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.

The Samaco family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Laird and staff, HealthFirst Hospice and Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehab for all of their care and compassion.

Memorial services will be held on August 4 at 1 p.m. at the Brevard Memorial Chapel, located at 5475 N. U.S. 1 in Cocoa, Florida.
