BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA  (WESH) – Two teenage girls are thanking the Brevard County Sheriff’s helicopter after surviving a 30-minute ordeal in the Indian River Lagoon.

They had fallen off a paddleboard at Rotary Park on the Indian River Lagoon near Suntree and couldn’t get back to shore.

They were out more than 100-yards when they fell in and the paddleboard drifted away.

Watching from the shore, adults with the girls could not hear their calls for help, but soon knew they were in trouble.
