911 AUDIO CALL UPDATE: Cocoa Police have released the 911 calls and new surveillance photos from the robbery.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police have arrested 51-year-old Avander Rice after police say he robbed an 82-year-old man at a Chase Bank ATM on 505 Brevard Ave.

Police say at around 10:09 a.m. on Monday the elderly man was withdrawing money from the ATM when Rice began engaging the victim. After removing the card from the ATM, Rice took the cash and ran to his vehicle.

The victim and a witness inside the bank gave chase after the suspect as he ran to his vehicle.

“The witness reached into the driver’s side window which was half way down and tried to stop the suspect who sped away with the witness still clinging to the side of the vehicle,” said Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

“However, the witness was able to break free and the suspect sped away.”

Detectives utilized a review of the ATM surveillance video capturing an image of the suspect and the vehicle.

Police were able to later positively identify the suspect as Rice.

Rice was taken into custody during a traffic stop, police say.
