BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech football team is receiving votes in the 2018 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Preseason Division II Coaches’ Poll, released on Monday.

This is the first time in program history that the Crimson & Gray has been featured in the AFCA Preseason Poll.

The Panthers, who were picked to finish sixth in the Gulf South Conference’s preseason poll, received 36 total points in the voting.

Florida Tech is scheduled to return four of its five all-conference players from 2017, including two first-teamers. A total of 63 letter winners return this year, including 10 players who started at least nine games (five on offense, five on defense).

Florida Tech opens the season with a road matchup with Benedict College on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Panthers’ first home game at Panther Stadium is Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. versus Newberry College.
