(247 Sports) – Ohio State announced a three-game suspension for head coach Urban Meyer the university announced on Wednesday after nearly 12 hours of deliberation by the Board of Trustees. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has also been suspended without pay from Aug. 31 to Sept. 16.
This follows a report released Wednesday morning by former ESPN college football insider Brett McMurphy that showed it was likely Meyer knew of domestic violence by former wide receivers coach Zach Smith on his ex-wife, Courtney.
On Wednesday afternoon, Ohio State placed Meyer on paid administrative leave while the university investigated the situation.
McMurphy originally reported alleged domestic violence between Zach and Courtney on Monday, June 23. That evening, Ohio State fired Smith and the following day Meyer took to the podium at Big Ten Media Days, stating he did not know of any incident occurring in 2015.
