80-percent chance for additional formation in 48-hours

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is closely watching a system off the west coast of Africa that is expected to increase formation and become a tropical storm by Friday.

As of 12 p.m., the disturbance is carrying 30 mph winds and moving to the west at 12 mph.

National Hurricane Center gives the disturbance an 80-percent chance for additional formation in 48-hours and a 90-percent chance of formation through five days.

Should the disturbance become named, it would be called Florence.
