Police Investigating Crash Near U.S. 1 Off Ramp and SR 528, Two Injured

Cocoa Police and rescue units responded to a crash that resulted in injuries on Tuesday.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police and rescue units responded to a crash that resulted in injuries on Tuesday.

Police say they received 911 calls shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday about a report of two men fighting inside a blue vehicle near the U.S.1 off-ramp of westbound SR 528

Officers are investigating a vehicle crash where two men suffered what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Simultaneously, calls were being received about the vehicle crashed as it headed Southbound on U.S. 1.

One individual was seen fleeing the crash into the woods heading west off the highway, while the other individual in the vehicle was on the ground with unknown injuries.

The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital while officers searched for the other man.

A short time later, the second man was located in the area of SR 524 and Industry Road.

Police say he was detained and taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of multiple cuts.

There are reports indicating the two men came from the Merritt Island area where officers received information regarding an alleged carjacking. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating those reports.

The investigation into the vehicle crash is ongoing and no other details are able to be confirmed at the time, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.
