The victim has been identified as 23-year-old John Romer from West Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has identified the man found dead in the water, southeast of the Pineda Cswy.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old John Romer from West Melbourne.

Authorities began the investigation shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, when the Sheriff’s Office was notified of possible human remains.

BCSO deputies responded to the location and the BCSO Dive Team recovered the body, which was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of Romer.

Brevard County Medical Examiner is performing the autopsy and results will be forthcoming.
