Beth Thedy, Ed.D., has been named the deputy superintendent and chief operating officer of Brevard Public Schools. In this new role, Thedy will lead a team of professionals from the departments of Transportation Services, Food and Nutrition Services, Purchasing and Warehouse Services, and District and School Security.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA —Beth Thedy, Ed.D., has been named the deputy superintendent and chief operating officer of Brevard Public Schools.

Christine Moore will succeed Thedy as assistant superintendent for Student Services and Exceptional Student Education.

In this new role, Thedy will lead a team of professionals from the departments of Transportation Services, Food and Nutrition Services, Purchasing and Warehouse Services, and District and School Security.

She also will be responsible for leading the district’s strategic planning as well as assisting Superintendent Mark Mullins with managing all operational services including technology, facilities and plant operations, financial wellness and community and media relations.

“I am fortunate to work in Brevard Public Schools with the exemplary students, parents, teachers, support staff and administrators all working toward a common mission: to serve every student with excellence as the standard,” said Thedy.

“In an environment where the focus is continuous improvement that fosters a culture of dedication, collaboration, and learning, great things happen for students. I am excited to embark upon this new endeavor and work with the operations departments of the district to further support the vision and mission of the district.”

During her 27 years with the district, Thedy has served in various roles including educator, school administrator at the elementary and secondary levels, and director of Middle School Programs. Most recently, she was the assistant superintendent for Student Services and Exceptional Student Education.

Thedy holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Science Education degree from Florida State University. She also earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.

MOORE FORMER DIRECTOR OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Moore will be responsible for exceptional student education, psychological and behavioral services, pre-k disabled services, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System, student support services, home education, health services and athletics.

“I have always been surrounded by great teams of educators and support staff,” said Moore.

“They have helped me learn and grow and I cannot thank them enough for their support. I am looking forward to serving the schools and families of Brevard in my new role.”

Moore will be leaving her position as the director of Professional Learning and Development where she oversaw employee professional development and support in areas of administrative leadership, teacher leadership, new teacher induction, teacher endorsement programs and the Professional Development Certification Program.

She has been with the district for 28 years and has also served as an exceptional education teacher, assistant principal and principal at Bayside High in Palm Bay. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Student Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
