BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech football’s J.T. Hassell has been named the Gulf South Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the GSC office on Monday.

Hassell is the first Panther to win the award since teammate Adonis Davis earned the honor last season.

The senior linebacker racked up a career-best 19 tackles to guide Florida Tech to a 17-10 victory over Newberry in the Panthers’ home opener on Saturday.
