ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCF Knights) – After defeating UConn 56-17 in the first game of the 2018 season, the UCF football team moved up in both national polls this week.

The Knights were ranked 19th in the AP Top 25 Poll and 20th in the latest Amway Coaches Poll.

UCF moved up two spots in the AP Poll and three in the Coaches Poll, jumping Miami, Michigan and Florida State in both.

At this time last year, the Knights were receiving just three votes in the Coaches Poll and none in the AP Poll after defeating FIU in the first game of the season. After the win over the Huskies, UCF has earned 407 and 339 votes in the week two AP and Coaches polls, respectively.

The Knights, who led the nation in scoring offense a year ago, put up 56 points in week one. And with just over 21 minutes of possession time, UCF ranks third on the weekend with 2.56 points per minute.

UCF now returns home to host South Carolina State this weekend. The Knights and the Bulldogs kickoff Saturday at 6 p.m. inside Spectrum Stadium.
