Presents Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida with a $4,000 check

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, FLORIDA – One in four children in Brevard County are at risk of going to bed hungry, but Melbourne Elks Lodge 1744 is working to help keep those children fed.

On Thursday, Melbourne Elks Lodge 1744 presented Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida with a $4,000 check.

The Elks presented the check at Second Harvest Food Bank’s Brevard Branch on Vickie Circle in West Melbourne to Greg Hansen, Brevard Operations Manager for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

That funds will be shared among 10 feeding partners in the Melbourne-Palm Bay area, providing approximately 16,000 meals.

This is the third year the Melbourne Elks has made a large donation to hunger relief in Brevard County.

The Elks have a long history of supporting childhood causes as 49 percent of Brevard County children participate in free and reduced price lunch programs.
