Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck On State Road 50 In Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Wednesday night involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on State Road 50.
The result of the crash killed a man, who has not yet been identified.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 26-year-old Michael Roman Catalano from Titusville.
According to the investigation released by FHP, Catalano was traveling eastbound in his 2016 Kia Optima along the inside travel lane on State Road 50 near a half-mile west of Plantation Dr.
The pedestrian was walking along the eastbound inside travel lane when Catalano’s car crashed into the man causing him to strike windshield. The impact threw the pedestrian onto the grass median where he died around 10:57 p.m..
Troopers say Catalano then fled the scene, but was later located after he contacted law enforcement.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
Charges against Catalano are pending, at this time.
