Sea Turtle ‘Guacamole’ Set To Be Released By Brevard Zoo’s Healing Center Monday

'Guacamole' will be sent back to ocean at Lori Wilson Park
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Aptly named, 200-pound “Guacamole” will become the first adult green sea turtle released by Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center on Monday, September 24.
She will be sent back to the ocean at Lori Wilson Park—the same beach where she was discovered stranded—in Cocoa Beach at 3 p.m. on Monday.
When she was admitted to the Healing Center on February 24, Guacamole had been found on the beach with old predator attack wounds. She was missing most of her right front flipper and had several lacerations. In the months to follow, Guacamole was treated by the Zoo’s experts and is now ready for release.
This event is open to the public, who are encouraged to wear green in honor of Guacamole. A filming and viewing area will be reserved for media. All media personnel are asked to check in with a Sea Turtle Healing Center volunteer at this event.
