ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCF Knights) – The UCF football team improved to 2-0 on Saturday after defeating visiting South Carolina State 38-0.

The Knights improved their ranking to 18 in both the AP Top 25 Poll and the Amway Coaches Poll.

UCF moved up two spots in the Coaches Poll and one in the AP Poll to remain the highest ranked team out of the state of Florida.

Again, at this time last year, the Knights were just receiving votes in the Coaches Poll and were not anywhere in the AP Poll after defeating FIU and Maryland. After the first two wins in 2018, UCF has earned 494 and 438 votes in the week two AP and Coaches polls, respectively.

The Knights, who led the nation in scoring offense a year ago, are averaging 47.0 points per game through two weeks of 2018. The Knights are also performing on defense, allowing their opponents to score just 8.5 points per game to the Huskies and the Bulldogs.

UCF’s matchup with North Carolina this week has been canceled, due to Hurricane Florence.

UCF’ next game is against FAU at home on Sept. 21. Kickoff set for 7 p.m.
