BREVARD COUNTY • MERITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Everyone loves poking around their favorite museum or non-profit gift shop. On Nov. 17, you can explore a variety of such gift shops in one central venue.
The Museums of Brevard (MOB) presents its second annual “Alternative Gift Fair” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center on Merritt Island (behind Merritt Square Mall).
This unique event will offer unusual and singular gift items from a variety of Brevard non-profit agencies.
Becky Zingarelli, MOB President, noted that among the unique pieces to be featured at the 2018 Alternative Gift Fair are: military memorabilia, law enforcement-themed gifts, aviation-related options, artwork created by horses, nature-themed gifts, artwork, jewelry, toys and books.
“The gift fair is a chance to look for unusual presents for those ‘hard to shop for’ folks…things you just can’t find at a department store or even online,” Zingarelli said.
“It’s even better that you do so while supporting your favorite cause because when you buy here, you are giving twice – once to the person you’re buying for and once to a worthwhile organization! Plus, you can gather information about organizations you might be interested in supporting, or facilities you’d like to visit.”

Museums, historical sites and non-profits with booths at the fair will include the Veterans Memorial Center, American Police Hall of Fame, Warbirds Museum, Sams House, the Surf Museum, Brevard Museum of History & Natural Science, Girl Scouts of America, Wild Horse Rescue Center, and many others.
The MOB is a consortium of local museums and historical sites that have come together to share resources and information and to co-promote each other.
“Our goal is to make the public aware of the rich variety of cultural and non-profit venues here in Brevard County,” said Zingarelli. “This is a great group that really cooperates and works to promote each other, our region’s unique cultural attractions and non-profit agencies, and Brevard County in general.”
