U.S. Coast Guard crews medevaced an injured diver Tuesday 40 miles east of Ponce Inlet. The diver, a 37-year old man, was experiencing signs of decompression sickness.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — U.S. Coast Guard crews medevaced an injured diver Tuesday 40 miles east of Ponce Inlet.

The diver, a 37-year old man, was experiencing signs of decompression sickness.

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center watchstanders received notification from the vessel Fishues at 4:18 p.m. and launched a Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew with a paramedic.

The crew rendezvoused with the vessel, transferred the paramedic to provide medical assistance and escorted the vessel to the Coast Guard station where emergency medical services were waiting.
