BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Being a former history major, Toni Elkouri never imagined she would someday make waves as Florida’s Space Coast’s very own culinary master.
Elkouri found her calling when her mother opened Cedar’s Cafe – a life-long dream of hers– and needed her daughter’s help when the restaurant’s popularity grew.
A deconstructuralist by nature, she has always been a fan of pushing traditional Mediterranean food into the future.
Elkouri not only stepped up to run the restaurant, she also began entering her progressive Mediterranean food in cooking competitions.
She went on to win the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project multiple times and doesn’t plan on losing her title anytime soon.
Although Elkouri spent some years living abroad, she always returned to the Space Coast.
“There’s no place like home,” she says. “We are the epitome of science, surf, and the laid-back, old-school Florida attitude.”
