Cocoa Native Rachel Williams Receives Endowed Scholarship at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE – Rachel Williams of Cocoa, Florida, recently received the SCO Honors Endowed Scholarship in honor of Mark J. Murphy at Southern College of Optometry.

The award recognizes an optometry student with a competitive grade-point average and Optometry Admission Test score, along with demonstrated leadership and service.

The scholarship comes with a $40,000 monetary award.

Williams is the daughter of Sandra and David Rintelman. She is a graduate of Cocoa High School and the University of Central Florida.

Each year, Southern College of Optometry recognizes its most outstanding students with scholarships to help defray the costs of their optometric education.

This year, the college awarded those students approximately $250,000 for the pursuit of their Doctor of Optometry degrees.
