POLICE: murder occurred at 1405 Stewart Avenue

The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting as a homicide, which occurred Thursday at 2:40 a.m. at 1405 Stewart Avenue.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting as a homicide, which occurred Thursday at 2:40 a.m. at 1405 Stewart Avenue.

According to Melbourne Police Lt. Cheryl Trainer, 57-year-old Stephen J. Potter of 1405 Stewart Avenue has been arrested for second-degree Murder reclassified with Firearm, for the murder of Rashad T. Scott, 29, of Melbourne.

This case remains under investigation and any persons with information are encouraged to contact Detective Dennis Higgins at 321-608-6477.
