BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Leading the way this holiday season is Brevard’s foremost holiday event, the “Light Up Viera” Holiday Parade, which is set for Saturday, November 24.
Now in its sixth year, the Light Up Viera parade, organized by the Viera Community Institute, continued the tradition of spreading holiday cheer with a captivating 2.7-mile parade that includes character meet and greets, delicious treats, professionally decorated holiday floats and the arrival of Santa Claus on his sleigh.
The Viera Community Institute is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to foster the health, harmony and well-being of the Viera community by facilitating educational, environmental, cultural and charitable activities and outreach programs within Viera.
The pre-parade fireworks display will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m., with the parade beginning at 6:10 p.m.
In addition to the festive costumes and parade floats that will be on display, this year’s parade will include character meet and greets, entertainment and food truck vendors along the route.
Local groups and holiday characters will stroll along the parade route at various points signing autographs, taking photos and entertaining enthusiastic spectators along the parade route.
Delicious food vendors will be set up along the parade route dishing up delectable treats and sweets to awaiting guests.
Mailboxes will be strategically placed along the parade route where kids may drop off their letter and postcards to Santa. Postcards for Santa are available in the Viera Vision and at the mailboxes during the parade.
Accompanying the traditional parade floats this year will be golf-cart “floats” decorated and sponsored by local community businesses, as well as three high school bands which were performed throughout the parade.
Several high schools will perform during this year’s parade and each school will receive a generous donation from The Viera Company which goes towards their music programs.
