BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — Four suspects are being sought for a grand theft that occurred at the Cocoa Walmart in early November.

The thieves stole more than $4,000 worth of electronic equipment using a distraction method in order to make the theft appear as a legitimate purchase.

“Walmart Asset Protection contacted the Cocoa Police Department on November 6 to report the theft which occurred on November 3 just after midnight,” said Cocoa Police PIO Yvonne Martinez.

“A review of the store security video showed three black males and one black female purchasing two iPads, two laptops and an iPhone. The security video shows one of the male suspects manipulating the cash register in order to make the transaction go through as paid.

“It’s believed the other suspects were distracting store employees in order to allow them access to the register. The merchandise was not paid for, however, a receipt was printed making it appear the item had been purchased.”

Martinez said that it was later learned the suspects took the stolen merchandise to another Walmart and returned it for cash.
