Florida Tech Players Earn Conference Commissioner’s Association First Team All-Region Honors

BREVARD COUNTY, MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Three members of the Florida Tech Football team have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) All-Region 2 First Team.

Representing the Crimson & Gray on the all-region squad are Adonis Davis, Romell Guerrier and J.T. Hassell. As a result of being first-team selections, all three Panthers will move on to the national ballot to be voted on for D2CCA All-America honors. The All-America teams will be announced later in December.

This is Davis’ second time is recognized on the All-Region First Team by the D2CCA, as he earned the same honor following the 2017 season.

The senior defensive lineman earned First Team All-GSC honors for the third time in his career this year and was a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year award where he finished sixth in voting with 138 points.

Davis ended the 2018 campaign as the GSC leader in tackles for loss (18.0) and sacks (8), while also tying for the league lead in forced fumbles with three. The Columbus, Ohio native also recorded 75 tackles, including 47 solo stops, three QB hurries, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup.

He concluded his Florida Tech career as the program leader in single-season sacks (8.0), total sacks (23.0), single-season tackles for loss (21.0) and total tackles for loss (55.0).

Adonis Davis ended the 2018 campaign as the GSC leader in tackles for loss (18.0) and sacks (8), while also tying for the league lead in forced fumbles with three.

Guerrier is coming off a breakout season for the Florida Tech offense en route to being tabbed a First Team All-GSC selection for the first time in his career. This is his first time earning D2CCA all-region honors.

The redshirt senior wide receiver finished the season ranking first in the GSC in receptions (59), receptions per game (4.9), receiving yards (1,062), receiving yards per game (88.5), and receiving touchdowns (13). Guerrier also ranked eighth in the league in average yards per catch (18.0).

The Miami, Florida product’s 13 touchdowns are a program single-season record, while his 1,062 yards and 59 receptions rank second and third, respectively, in the school single-season record book.

Rounding out Florida Tech’s honorees is Hassell, the 2018 GSC Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team All-GSC selection and a Harlon Hill DII Player of the Year Nominee. This is his first time on the D2CCA all-region teams.

What an incredible season for the redshirt senior linebacker out of Titusville, Fla. Hassell led the GSC in tackles (124), solo tackles (76), tackles per game (10.3) and forced fumbles (3).

He also ranked sixth in the league with 9.5 tackles for loss and seventh with 4.5 sacks. While his 124 tackles are a school single-season record, Hassell also broke the program mark for tackles in a single game (20) and sacks in a single game (4.0) this season.
