BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA (WESH) – Authorities said a man fractured his 3-month-old son’s head when the child didn’t go to sleep.

Prosecutors said Joshua Berry, 29, was watching his son Sunday at their home in Mims. According to an arrest report, when it was time for the child to take a nap, he wouldn’t go to sleep.

The child attempted to lift his head off the mattress five times, but each time Berry pushed the infant’s head back down and turned it to the side, applying pressure, an arrest report said.

Detectives said the action left the child with a fractured skull.

Berry is facing a first-degree felony of aggravated child abuse charge.
