National Weather Service Forecasts Strong to Severe Weather Ahead of Strong Cold Front

BREVARD COUNTY • NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Heads up Brevard County, strong to severe weather is forecast by the National Weather Service in Melbourne Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a strong cold front.
Main threats are damaging winds, up to 1-inch hail and a few tornadoes possible.
Other impacts include heavy downpours and frequent lightning strikes. The National Weather Service urges residents to be weather aware on Friday and have a way to receive alerts.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 67. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
