National Weather Service Forecasts Strong to Severe Weather Ahead of Strong Cold Front

Heads up Brevard County, strong to severe weather is forecast by the National Weather Service in Melbourne Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a strong cold front.

BREVARD COUNTY • NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Heads up Brevard County, strong to severe weather is forecast by the National Weather Service in Melbourne Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a strong cold front.

Main threats are damaging winds, up to 1-inch hail and a few tornadoes possible.

Other impacts include heavy downpours and frequent lightning strikes. The National Weather Service urges residents to be weather aware on Friday and have a way to receive alerts.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 67. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. West wind around 5 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 67. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 69. North northwest wind around 5 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. North wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. East wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. East southeast wind around 5 mph.
Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. South wind around 5 mph.
