Nina Mallis, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 19. She resided at Indian River Colony Club where she stayed busy with aquatics, painting, and playing bridge. She served as a Brevard Ombudsman until 2016.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Nina Mallis, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 19. She was the third child of seven born to Isaac and Laura Roberts in Charleston, SC. Nina grew up in Pooler, GA and graduated from Savannah High School.

She met her husband Ven while he was stationed at Hunter AFB. They married on Pearl Harbor Day, shortly before he was deployed to England. When he returned, they moved to Alexandria, VA where they raised their family and had a hardware business.

Nina was active in all aspects of her church at Del Ray Methodist. After retiring from the hardware business she became a realtor in Virginia for 17 years. She was also active in Toastmasters. She and Ven traveled extensively here and abroad during their retirement years.

In 2000, she moved to Florida to be near family, when Ven became ill. She resided at Indian River Colony Club where she stayed busy with aquatics, painting, and playing bridge. She served as a Brevard Ombudsman until 2016.

She will be remembered as a strong and willing servant to God, her family, her church and the community.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband Ven, and her siblings Destlo Smith, Ray Roberts, William Roberts and Guerry Roberts. She is survived by two brothers; Lewis Roberts and Thomas Roberts; her three children, Robert Mallis (Debbie), George Mallis (Pat), and Julie Mallis-Turner; three granddaughters, Kari Cockrill, Laura Ware (Ian), and Erin Mallis; and one great-grandson, Robert Ware.

A Memorial Service will be held at Unity of Melbourne Church on Sat. Dec. 29 at 1 p.m.
