BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA (WESH) – A Brevard County Sheriff’s Office drug-sniffing dog got sick after smelling out some ecstasy on a cruise ship passenger Wednesday. The dog got a dose of the antidote Narcan.

“From what I understand, (the dog) started having some problems with balance, and did have some type of a seizure incident,” Brevard County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tod Goodyear said.

The drug-sniffing dog named Jake was one of many K-9s and undercover officers checking out passengers on the Norwegian Epic cruise ship.

Every year the cruise line hosts cruises for fans of electronic dance music.

Investigators said some passengers try to partake in illegal drugs. Deputies made about two dozen drug arrests on the cruise last year, and more than a dozen this year.
