ABOVE VIDEO: Authorities say at least six people are dead and eight more are injured after a fiery crash on I-75 southbound between Alachua and Gainesville.

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA (WGFL) — Authorities say at least six people are dead and eight more are injured after a fiery crash on I-75 southbound between Alachua and Gainesville.

All lanes have been shutdown since 3:42 p.m. but at 7:30 p.m. the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office announced northbound lanes would be opening soon while southbound lanes will remain closed for an extended period of time.

Northbound drivers should expect heavy and slow traffic.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash involved two tractor trailers, a sedan and a passenger van. Lt. Patrick Riordan said all of the vehicles but the sedan caught fire.
