BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA (Eastern Florida) – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team hit their free throws down the stretch to pick up a win against Monroe College Tuesday afternoon in the Josh Artis Memorial Classic at Titan Field House.

The Titans, who improved to 14-4 overall, snapped Monroe’s five-game win streak with the 81-70 victory.

With the game tied 55-55 with just under 10 minutes remaining, the Titans went on a 10-2 run to take a 65-57 lead. The lead would stay that way until Jalen Warren hit one of the big shots of the game, making a deep 3-pointer as the shot clock was going off to give the Titans a 10-point lead. Eastern Florida State College would hit all nine of their free throw attempts down the stretch to clinch the victory.

Freshman Jonathan Ned led the Titans with 17 points while Warren had his fifth straight game with at least 12 points, finishing with 14. Nathanael Jack hit four 3-pointers to finish with 12 and Nick Stampley had 11 points.

In the first game of the day, Harcum College defeated Miami Dade College 93-89 in a back and forth contest that was tied with four minutes remaining.
But Harcum went on an 8-2 run in a two-minute span to pick up their 13th win of the season.

Miami Dade’s DJ Russell had a season-high 31 points in the loss.

Harcum will play the College of Central Florida Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House in the final game of the Josh Artis Memorial Classic.

The Titans, who went 3-0 in the tournament and have won six of the past seven, will be back at Titan Field House Saturday when they open the Mid-Florida Conference schedule at 4 p.m. against the College of Central Florida. Admission is free to games at Titan Field House.
