102-year-old enjoys a Manhattan every evening
SPACE COAST DAILY TV: Edward Kydd, a veritable “Forest Gump,” from Rockledge, Florida, and who will celebrate his 103rd birthday on July 5, talks about the secrets to his longevity and special memories from his amazing life.
BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Edward Kydd, a veritable “Forest Gump,” from Rockledge, Florida, and who will celebrate his 103rd birthday on July 5, talks about the secrets to his longevity and special memories from his amazing life.
“I volunteer and drive two routes for Meals on Wheels every Monday, as it keeps me out of mischief,” said the centenarian.
Kydd at 102-years-old drives his own car to deliver Meals on Wheels with his daughter Janet Von Berg, who is a spry age 80.
“You get to meet some very interesting people along the way,” said Edward Kydd.
When asked about his driving at 103-years-old, he proudly said, ” I bought my car used and I have put 15,000 miles on it in the last 18 months.”
Edward Kydd, who was born on July 5, 2016, also believes that staying active and volunteering is a key to staying alive.
“Don’t die is another important key to living longer,” joked the quick-witted Kydd.
Kydd and his wife Helen were married for 68 years and are originally from Quebec, Canada.
“I read a lot, and I also read to a group of seniors once a week – it’s great as you meet amazing people.”
You can find Kydd every Wednesday enjoying lunch with a group of friends at the Cozy Corner restaurant on North Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island.
