Citizen tips led to Debets capture at Titusville hotel
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – On Thursday afternoon members of our Fugitive Unit arrested Sally Debets at a hotel in Titusville after citizens alerted them to where she was hiding.
Debets, who was this past week’s “Fugitive of the Week” on “Wheel of Fugitive,” knew she was wanted on a warrant and instead of doing the right thing decided to hide out at a hotel in Titusville.
Thankfully, a number of citizens did the right thing by alerting our Fugitive Unit to where she was hiding and she was taken into custody without incident while attempting to leave her room.
Debets subsequently admitted to being aware that she had absconded from her probation to knowing she had warrants for her arrest and to knowing that she had been named the “Fugitive of the Week,” however, she still chose to hide instead of going and facing the consequences for her actions.
Debets was transported to the Brevard County Jail by our Fugitive Unit where she was held on “No Bond” for three Felony Warrants for Violation of Community Control.
So let me try to explain this one more time for our fugitives who seem to be struggling with understanding the concept:
If you are a fugitive and you see your photo on “Wheel of Fugitive” immediately do the right thing and go on out to the Brevard County Jail to turn yourself in, because if not, the citizens of Brevard County will tell us where we can find you and the Fugitive Unit will be coming to visit you real soon. And I do mean real soon.
Another great job by our citizens and Fugitive Agents who work together every day to take bad people off our streets and put them safely behind bars where they can’t victimize anyone else.
