BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech Softball’s Tina Velázquez Rolón has been awarded the first installment of Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for the 2019 softball season.

Velázquez Rolón had a huge debut weekend as a Panther as she shined on the mound, at the plate and in the field.

She went 7-16 with six RBIs, three runs, three doubles and one home run. She also appeared in the circle three times and gave up no runs on five hits with 12 strikeouts over 9.2 innings of work.

Tina’s best game came in her first appearance as a Panthers when she went 3-4 with one run, one RBI and two doubles. The versatile transfer grabbed some time in the field and recorded three putouts.

Velázquez Rolón shined in the final game of the weekend against Barry as she went 2-4 with three RBIs, two runs, a double and the sole Panthers homerun.

In addition, she put in a dominant save performance as she allowed no runs on two hits and struck out five.
