Off Duty Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Employee Shot During Incident in Jacksonville

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was notified  Sunday morning by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office of an incident that occurred in Jacksonville concerning an employee of the BCSO who had been involved in a shooting.

INCIDENT HAPPENED SUNDAY MORNING

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was notified  Sunday morning by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office of an incident that occurred in Jacksonville concerning an employee of the BCSO who had been involved in a shooting.

The employee was off-duty visiting Jacksonville when the incident occurred, according to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Tod Goodyear.

“The employee was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery for injuries sustained,” said Goodyear.

“The employee is currently in serious, but stable condition. All of the individuals involved in the incident have been identified and it is currently being actively investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to determine the facts and circumstances.”

Upon conclusion of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office criminal investigation, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a Professional Standards inquiry of the incident.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the names of the participants involved in this incident.
