One Dead, One Critically Injured After Car Crashes Into Back of Semi-Truck Carrying Chicken On US-192

22-year-old Manuel Garcia from Palm Bay killed in crash

Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash involving a car that crashed into the rear of a semi-truck carrying chicken early Tuesday morning on US-192 near I-95 in West Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash involving a car that crashed into the rear of a semi-truck carrying chicken early Tuesday morning on US-192 near I-95 in West Melbourne.

The result of the crash killed 22-year-old Manuel Garcia and critically injured 23-year-old Austin Flinchum, according to troopers. Both men are from Palm Bay.

The early investigation shows that troopers were called around 4:30 a.m. about a deadly crash that happened on US-192.

When rescue crews arrived, they found a 2006 Nissan Altima had crashed into the rear of a semi-truck.

Garcia was the driver of the Nissan who was killed, while Flinchum, who was the passenger, was rushed to Holmes Regional in critical condition.

The driver of the semi-truck, 22-year-old Johnny Schrier from Lakeland, was taken to Holmes Regional with minor injuries.

Authorities say they do not yet know why Garcia failed to slow down before hitting the semi.
