'Teachers continue to be an inspiration for others far beyond the days in the classroom'

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – When Ana Diaz, principal of University Park learned that kindergarten teacher Tracey Stewart rode her bike to school each day, she set out to learn the reason why.
Stewart had overcome a series of losses that contributed to financial struggles. She sacrificed her comfort to ensure her daughter’s dream of college would be a reality despite the challenges they faced.
Inspired by the love and commitment Stewart demonstrates at work each day, and her humble attitude towards life, Diaz was compelled to share Stewart’s story with the greater Palm Bay community, in the hopes of finding a way to support her.
Donald Montgomery of Palm Bay Ford contacted Diaz and told her that they had a car for Stewart. He appreciated teachers and the work they do immensely and was ecstatic to be part of a team who could show this extraordinary teacher some encouragement.
Diaz hopes this story serves as a reminder to teachers that there are a lot of people in Brevard who love and value the work they do.
“Teachers continue to be an inspiration for others far beyond the days in the classroom,” said Diaz.
“Ms. Stewart has brought a lot of peace and joy to University Park Elementary and it is great to see the same brought to her through the actions of a caring community leader like Palm Bay Ford.”
