Straight Talk Forum on Indian River Lagoon Cleanup Scheduled For February 26 at Florida Tech

An overview of projects targeted, and a summary of projects under way or completed, as part of the cleanup and restoration of Indian River Lagoon will be the subject of a free public forum set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Florida Institute of Technology Gleason Performing Arts Center, located at 50 W. University Blvd., Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – An overview of projects targeted, and a summary of projects under way or completed, as part of the cleanup and restoration of Indian River Lagoon will be the subject of a free public forum set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Florida Institute of Technology Gleason Performing Arts Center, located at 50 W. University Blvd., Melbourne.

The Straight Talk: Sewage Systems, Septics and Muck in Our Lagoon forum will feature updates to the Save Our Indian River Lagoon Project Plan, which is funded by a half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2016 for IRL cleanup.

Speakers include Brevard County Natural Resources Director Virginia Barker; District 2 Commissioner Bryan Lober; Dr. Duane De Freese, executive director of the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program; Dr. Robert Weaver of the FIT IRL Research Institute; and M.J. Waters of the Brevard IRL Coalition.

The event will also include a public question-and-answer session.
