BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Two Brevard County teens were seriously injured in a single-car crash on Thursday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the teens injured are male and female.
The teens have been identified as 18-year-old Stephen Cottle from Cocoa and 18-year-old Jayci Moore from Mims.
Both teens were taken to Holmes Regional.
According to the investigation by Florida Highway Patrol, Cottle was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer on U.S. Highway 1 when he lost control of the car, causing the vehicle to travel over a raised curb and into the grass median.
After traveling onto the median, the vehicle continued off the roadway and struck a posted yield sign with a one-way sign that was posted in the median.
As a result, the impact caused the vehicle flipped several times, according to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers do not yet know what caused Cottle to lose control of the vehicle.
