Proper nail care is not limited to ladies only. The idea of getting a men’s grooming kit dedicated solely for your nails may seem to be surprising, but it is essential to keep your nails in shape and care for them just like you take care of your hair and beard.

Proper nail care is not limited to ladies only. The idea of getting a men’s grooming kit dedicated solely for your nails may seem to be surprising, but it is essential to keep your nails in shape and care for them just like you take care of your hair and beard.

Nail care is something that you should learn properly. It not only helps to maintain your daily grooming but also saves a lot of money because you don’t have to visit a local barber or a spa to get the job done.

Once you have a nail grooming kit in your house, you can send your nails as soon as they grow. There are many ways a manicurist will treat your nails, but if you know the basics, you can take care of your nails by yourself.

Before you know the steps to groom your nails, you should know what the different manicure tools are and their functions.

1.    Nail clippers

The first tool you will find a nail grooming kit is a nail clipper. This is used to cut long nails. You can also shape your nails while trimming them. However, if your nails are not too big, don’t use a nail clipper. You might disturb the ingrown nails while trimming. Use a nail file instead.

2.    Nail files

Nail files are essential to shaping your nails. You should use them after you finish cutting the nails with the nail clipper. Always use nail file in one direction. This helps in maintaining the shape of your nails. If you tend to go back and forth, you may tear the nails if they are soft. Go slowly after you finish cutting the nails. You can start by evening the corners out so that it is easier to shape the nails on the top end.

3.    Cuticle scissors

Nails have a lot of dead skin around the base. You should eliminate them while cutting the nails. Cuticle scissors are small and they are meant to cut and remove the dry skin that exists around the nail base.

4.    Cuticle nippers

Similar to cuticle scissors, you can use cuticle nippers to trim the dead skin and hangnails. However, you need to be careful while using the nippers. Don’t insert them in the skin around the nails as it will be very painful. You should use the nippers to trim the dead skin that is easy to reach or is protruding out from the nails.

5.    Tweezers

If you are fond of your eyebrows and want to keep them in shape, you can use the tweezers to pluck the extra hairs from the brows. But this can be painful. Tweezers in a nail kit are often used to pick out tiny nail parts that are not reachable with a nipper.

Whenever you are buying a men’s nail grooming kit, make sure you get a stainless steel one. They last longer and provide a clean cut to help keep your nails in shape.
