Crash happened around 4:55 a.m. on Saturday

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a tragic accident Saturday morning that involved a passenger in a vehicle being ejected and run over early Saturday morning after a car struck a cement pillar on SR 408.

ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to a tragic accident Saturday morning that involved a passenger in a vehicle being ejected and run over early Saturday morning after a car struck a cement pillar on SR 408.

The passenger killed is a 33-year-old male from Kissimmee, according to state troopers. Authorities are not releasing the identity of the individual until the family has been properly notified.

Troopers say three vehicles were in involved in the crash on State Road 408 at mile marker 18.

All three vehicles were driving eastbound on SR 408 above the speed limit when one of the vehicles, driven by 27-year-old Anthony Sanchez from Hollywood, Florida, lost control and struck a cement pillar causing one of his passengers in the vehicle to be ejected onto SR 408.

A second vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Rodney Alexis from Titusville, struck the passenger on the road after he attempted to avoid the collision.

In Alexis’ attempt to avoid the passenger on SR 408, he also side swiped a semi truck.

Sanchez, the driver of the vehicle that first crashed, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Another passenger inside Sanchez’s vehicle, 27-year-old Jennifer Jenkins from Winter Garden, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers have reported that Sanchez and the male passenger were not wearing seatbelts. Jenkins was wearing her seatbelt.

The crash still remains under investigation.
