BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne High School Robotics Team “Voltage” won the Orlando Regional competition and is now looking for sponsorship to travel to the First Robotics World Championships in Houston Texas.
FIRST Robotics Team 386 Team Voltage started off at Satellite High School in 1998 as team 248, “Scorpsquad.”
To help increase sponsorships, in 1999 the team decided to diversify by moving to a new location where it began accepting students from any southern Brevard County high school that did not have a team of their own.
By 2016, Team Voltage consisted of over 50 students from a variety of locations in Melbourne, including Melbourne Central Catholic, West Shore High School and Melbourne High School. The club’s meetings are held at Melbourne Senior High School.

“Robotics is an amazing program that helps students build skills that will take them into successful college programs as well as direct out of high school careers,” said former school board member Andy Ziegler.
“The Brevard business community has been appropriately advocating to the school district and the legislature to boost STEM and Career opportunities for our students. It is absolutely the right thing for the future.
“Now is our opportunity to show our support to our students by helping Team Voltage go to the First Robotics World Championships in Houston, an honor secured by winning a regional competition.”
