More Than 75 Local Volunteers Will Go Bald

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Square Mall will host a St. Baldrick’s Foundation signature head-shaving event to raise funds for lifesaving childhood cancer research on Saturday, March 16.
With a goal of raising $150,000, more than 75 local volunteers have registered to shave their head to support the Foundation’s mission to fund the best research to find cures and better treatments for kids with cancer.
Since the first event back in 2011 at Meg O’Malley’s, the Space Coast Conquers event has raised awareness and funds for childhood cancer research over the years and raised more than $1.9 million and shaved over 2,000.
This year among the more than 75 volunteers going bald will be Mayor Dave Berkman of Indiatlantic and Council member of Indiatlantic Simon Kemp.

Both are part of Team Indiatlantic, which is a team participating at the Space Coast Conquers at Melbourne Square Mall that is made up of Councilmember Randy Greer and Firefighter Captain Todd Burnett.
One in five children diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. will not survive. Those who do survive often suffer long-term effects from treatment too harsh for their developing bodies.
As the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, St. Baldrick’s Foundation is leading the charge to take childhood back from cancer. Join the fight. Register. Fundraise. Show-up. Shave. You can help save kids’ lives.
The event will start at 1 p.m. and end at 6 p.m.
