BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol have recovered a vehicle in Brevard County that they believe was involved in a fatal pedestrian hit and run crash in Orange County on Tuesday.

The victim who died in the hit and run crash has been identified as 70-year-old Robert Henschel from West Bend, Wisconsin.

Troopers say the suspected vehicle was traveling eastbound on State Road 528, 4.5 miles east of State Road 520, when the driver of the vehicle struck Henschel who was speaking with a Good Samaritan on the side of the road.

Henschel claimed his vehicle had run out of gas before he was fatally hit, according to the witness.

Investigators say the 2018 Dodge Charger was located in Brevard after troopers received a Crimeline tip.

Troopers believe the Charger’s damage is consistent with striking a pedestrian and have sent evidence from the vehicle to a lab for confirmation.

The owner of the vehicle claims he struck a deer.
