BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – During a Tuesday morning stop at Port Canaveral, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) pledged to ensure that this year’s Congressional budget would include more than $140 million for port projects throughout Florida.

Highlighting his “Fighting for Florida” budget agenda at Cruise Terminal 5, Scott said investing in the state’s 15 ports helps increase trade and creates good jobs.

Scott met with Port personnel and accepted a “Go for Launch” cap from Port CEO Capt. John Murray the day after the Port broke ground on its new Cruise Terminal 3 complex, a $163 million project that’s the biggest in the Port’s 65-year history.

The new terminal, dubbed the Launch Pad, will be home of the 180,000-ton XL-class Mardi Gras, the cruise line’s newest and most innovative ship, beginning in 2020.
