BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier today, our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard presented our nation’s flag during the Florida Sheriff’s Association Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Tallahassee.

The annual ceremony honors Deputy Sheriffs throughout the state of Florida who have been killed in the line of duty during the past year.

This year’s ceremony included our own fallen hero Deputy Kevin Stanton who was taken from us on February 17, 2018.

As I watched our Honor Guard in the performance of their duties today, I could not have been more proud as they stood with pride representing Kevin and his family who were in attendance for the ceremony.

Our Honor Guard is an amazing team of men and women who bring honor and dignity to services throughout our county while representing our agency and profession so proudly.

As the Honor Guard stood watch over our flag, our Attorney General, Ashley Moody spoke about the sacrifices of our Law Enforcement Officers who go to work every day knowing they will at some point be in harm’s way.

Her words served to honor our first responders but also touched the heart of every family member in the audience as well as the hundreds of Law Enforcement Officers who were in attendance in memory of those we have lost.

Please join me in thanking our Honor Guard for all they do, the Florida Sheriff’s Association for hosting today’s event and our Attorney General for her amazing words and for standing strong with the men and women of Law Enforcement!
